When you play a character, who is interesting and entertaining because they are struggling with their own fears and desires, you might find yourself clenching and contracting, pulling in your shoulders.  It makes sense because you are connecting to their inner life, feeling their feelings as your own.  Your imagination takes your body on a psychological ride.

The amazing thing is that if you can release the tensions in your own body and create the essence and illusion of the character’s body (Alexander Technique is a great tool for that), your audience will feel a whole lot more.   Your imagination can expand and fly even more.
